News Media

I have traveled to 46 of the 50 states in the U.S.A. appearing at retail stores for signing events and met a lot of wonderful and interesting people. As a result of my travels I received recognition by all media including newspaper, radio, and television.

The two following news covers were especially helpful in showcasing my work:

Okay, Okay, I know...it's not like I'm a movie star like Winona Ryder or a great athlete like Tiger Woods, but you have to admit that it's very cool sharing the same page with them. And what's more, I got the bigger coverage! The world can be a strange place...

As a student at CMU the local university press caught hold of my professional background and thought it interesting that a published comic book artist who's drawn so many of the characters found in popular motion pictures was attending their college. I thought they did a great job plugging my Vampire story...

AN ADVENTURE

My favorite promotional route is when I travel south to Florida from Michigan, move up the Gulf Coast through Alabama and Mississippi, cruise through New Orleans, hit the big state of Texas and navigate through Houston, San Antonio, Dallas/Ft Worth, Abilene, and finally hit the Mexican border town of El Paso. Can you feel the adventure? I remember one time picking up from there and traveling further west through Albuquerque New Mexico, and Tuscon and Phoenix Arizona where temperatures reached 117 degrees fahrenheit. From there I headed towards Las Vegas and found myself twisting and turning along the road that encircled Hoover Dam and finally found myself in the colorful twilight of the gambling capital of the world (I don't gamble, but admittedly the flashing lights can take your breath away). I recall waking early to find an off-the-beaten-path towards the great city of San Francisco via the many lost and desolate desert roads in that relatively vacant state. As I traveled, I felt my car getting shoved off the road on what was a very clear day. I looked to my left and saw an entire desert field of multiple mini tornadoes called "Dust Devils" sweeping across the road from left to right and striking and pushing my car around like a Tonka toy. "Twister" stand back! In time, I finally reach California and Yosemite National Park after miles of twisting mountain vistas where pine cones were the size of footballs. The trees were mammoth by eastern standards and at night they hid the cottages that lined the undulating roads with only their "amber-lit" windows peeking through the branches like some scene out of a Grimms fairy tale. At one point I wondered if I was ever going to find San Francisco. Instead, it felt as if I were on this never ending road with Rod Serling in the back seat of my car narrating my life. As I came to the "realization" that I had just entered The Twilight Zone after having chug-a-lugged upwards like a roller coaster's box car on an incline that was more a wall than a hill, I reached the top and slowly descended over the apex of the mountain to discover my fears were unfounded. My trek had reached an end because there before me, and lit up like a Christmas tree, was the great "City by the Bay", San Francisco. I felt like Dorothy just discovering Oz. San Francisco was chilly, even in the summer. Nevertheless, the Golden Gate bridge and the numerous shops made the jouney worthwhile. But it was time to head to the "City of Angels", Los Angles. Just 4 hours of driving took me from a chilly 55 degrees to over 100 degrees at high noon. What a sprawling Metropolis! Was it Sunset Boulevard or Sunset Strip? Can't remember. What I do remember is having breakfast at this place called "The Source", in the heart of Hollywood. I am particularly health conscious and chose oatmeal with almonds and apples. Yes, this was California, not Huntsville. And who did I spy to my right having the same repast? The long and blonde haired Fabio looking like the Mighty Thor. I remarked to the cashier, is that who I think that is? Is that Fabio? She replied, "Yeah, that's him. No big deal. He comes in every morning". I guess I wasn't in Michigan anymore.

The best part of my journeys was meeting the people and signing books and drawing for them. I have met some of the most intelligent and interesting people you can imagine.
